The next meeting of Scientific Council of Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory named after Nasreddin Tusi of ANAS was held.

Members of the Scientific Council and Branch Officers participated in the report-event devoted to the results of scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Observatory in 2017.

Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory, PhD in Physics and Mathematics Elchin Babayev gave general information about the meeting.

Then Director of the Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory, correspondent member of ANAS Namik Jalilov gave information about the scientific and scientific-organizational work done during the year.

According to the director, 66 articles (35 of them abroad) and 2 monographs were published by the employees of the scientific institution in the reporting year. Employees have published 13 articles in impressive magazines and have 86 references.

Namik Jalilov noted that in the reporting year “Azerbaijan Astronomy Magazine”was adapted to international standards, published in new design and in English (AAJ,Vol.11,№1,№2,№3,) and sent to international astronomical centers and other scientific institutions.

During the reporting period, the staff of Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory collaborated with more than 30 foreign countries and participated in 22 international scientific conferences. During the year scientific events were held in the Observatory with participation of several authoritative scientific organizations.

Emphasizing the importance of the research work launched in the reporting year, Namik Jalilov spoke about the continuation of the work done in this direction next year.
