The next astrophysical seminar was held at Baku branch of Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory named after Nasreddin Tusi of ANAS on November 22.
Director of Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory, corresponding member of ANAS Namig Jalilov, who opened the event with the introductory word, gave general information about the seminar.
Firstly, the leading scientific worker of the department of “Atmospheric physics and magnetism”of the Observatory, PhD in physics and mathematics Abid Rzayev presented a report on the theme “Investigation of the unsteadiness of the atmosphere of the massive hot star and star’s wind”.
The scientist said that on the basis of 29 kude-echo spectra obtained on terms R=45000 and 100≤S/N≤600 within 36 days, the variability of linear profiles depending on time in the atmosphere of the k Cas B0.7 Ia extreme star has been widely studied: “According to our results, short-term variability of linear profiles (P≤1d) was not found. The duration of all investigated lines: weak photosphere lines - SiIII+OII+HeI(weak), strong photosphere lines- H10 - Hδ+ HeI(strong), wind lines HeI - 5875, 6678, Hγ, Hβ variability of the beam speeds depending on time are mainly related to non-radial pulse movements”.
Then a small scientific worker of the Observatory, Gunay Hajiyeva, made a report on “Extreme stars and their some spectral properties” (A.Khalilov, A.Hasanova, G.Hajiyeva).
Gunay Hajiyeva noted that stars belonging to the extreme group of stars are the stars with the greatest brightness; the light of these stars is 30000-100000 Lʘ. The extreme stars surround O-M classes. Usually the absolute star size of extreme is within the M=-5m ÷ -12m interval. Especially the extreme stars with a brightness of les than -8m are characterized as bright extreme stars. The mass of the extreme stars is between 10 and 70 Mʘ intervals. The radius is in the interval of 30 and 500 Rʘ.
The reporter said the in the Garvard classification according to the spectral class, the extreme stars are located in the interval between O and M. The hot extreme stars surround O, B, A, F, the cold extreme stars also surround G,K,M classes etc.
The report was welcomed by participants of the event, discussions were held on the topic, and questions were answered.
